THE WONDERS OF ANCIENT EGYPT |
Day 1
Afternoon non-stop flight by EgyptAir from London Heathrow to Cairo. On arrival you will be met by our representative and taken direct to the Oasis Hotel at Giza, close to the pyramids.

Day 2
We have left the time in Cairo free. Our representatives can offer a variety of optional excursions in and around this great city. Not to be missed are the Great Pyramids and Sphinx at Giza, the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities and the superb monuments at ancient Memphis and Saqqara.

Day 3

Day 4
Fly to Luxor and embark on the Nile Romance for lunch. In the afternoon visit the monumental XVIIIth Dynasty temples of Karnak and Luxor.

Day 5
Sailing on the Nile, through the Esna Lock to Edfu.

Day 6
Your first visit is to the wonderfully preserved Temple of Horus at Edfu, the second largest temple in Egypt. Continue sailing to Aswan, gateway to Nubia and the Sudan.

Day 7
In the morning you will visit the High Dam and the ancient Granite Quarries, where an unfinished obelisk lies. Continue to the beautiful temple of Philae, rescued from the rising waters of Lake Nasser when the dam was constructed. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight in Aswan.

Day 8
In the morning there is the option of visiting the fabulous temples at Abu Simbel by air. In the afternoon sail to Kom Ombo to visit the Ptolemaic temple dedicated to the two gods Sobek and Haroeris, from where there is also a fine view over the river. Continue to Edfu for overnight.

Day 9
Sail through Esna Lock to Luxor.

Day 10
In the morning cross to the West Bank of the Nile to visit the romantic Valley of the Kings, where Howard Carter famously discovered the tomb of Tutankhamun in 1922. Continue to the Valley of the Queens, the vast temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari and the Colossi of Memnon. The afternoon is at leisure.

Day 11
Disembark from the Nile Romance, and return by EgyptAir direct to London Heathrow, arriving in the early afternoon. Meals: B |
