Day 1

Afternoon non-stop flight by EgyptAir from London Heathrow to Cairo. On arrival you will be met by your Tour Manager and taken to the Movenpick Pyramids Resort, Giza.

Day 2

Morning visit to the Egyptian Museum in central Cairo, including the astonishing array of treasures from the tomb of the boy-king Tutankhamun. Afternoon free, with the option of visiting the mosques and churches of Old Cairo, including the mid-19th century Mohammed Ali Mosque in the Citadel which dominates the skyline of eastern Cairo and which has become a symbol of the city.

Day 3

The Great Pyramids of Giza, built in the 3rd millennium B.C., continue to inspire awe in every visitor to Egypt. This morning we explore these ageless marvels, together with the Sphinx, whose true significance remains a mystery to this day. Optional excursion available in the afternoon to Memphis and Saqqara.

Day 4

Fly to Luxor and embark on the Nile Beauty for lunch. In the afternoon visit the well-preserved XVIIIth Dynasty Temple of Luxor and the enormous Temple of Karnak, whose construction took more than 1,000 years.

Day 5

There is the option of rising at dawn to take a balloon flight over Luxor. In the morning we take the ferry to the West Bank to explore the tombs of the Pharaohs in the Valley of the Kings. We also see the Valley of the Queens, the elegant mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari and the Colossi of Memnon. We rejoin the Nile Beauty and sail along the timeless Nile, bound for Esna, where we moor overnight.

Day 6

Sail to Edfu where a visit is made to the monumental Temple of Horus, the largest and best preserved Ptolemaic temple in Egypt, constructed in the 3rd century B.C. Continue sailing to Kom Ombo, where we moor overnight.

Day 7

Morning visit to the Ptolemaic temple of Kom Ombo, from where there is a fine view over the Nile. The temple building is perfectly symmetrical, with two entrances, two halls and two sanctuaries, due to the fact that unusually this temple is dedicated to two deities - the crocodile god Sobek and the falcon god Haroeris. Continue sailing to Aswan where in the afternoon sightseeing includes the High Dam, the ancient Granite Quarries with their fascinating unfinished obelisk, and the beautiful Temple of Isis at Philae, rescued from the floodwaters of Lake Nasser and moved to a new site following the completion of the High Dam during the 1960s.

Day 8

Optional excursion to Abu Simbel. Disembark from the Nile Beauty for the return flight to Cairo, where we transfer to the Movenpick Heliopolis Hotel at Cairo Airport.
