Day 1

Leave London Heathrow by EgyptAir non-stop flight to Cairo. On arrival you will be met by our representative and taken direct to the historic Mena Garden Oberoi Hotel, located opposite the Pyramids in Giza. You may request a guaranteed Pyramid View Room at the Mena Garden for a special price of £45 per person for 3 nights (double or single).

Day 2

At leisure in Cairo, with a variety of optional excursions available. Particularly recommended are the Pyramids and Sphinx, the mosques and bazaars of Old Cairo, and the Egyptian Museum, with its unrivalled collection of antiquities.

Day 4

Fly to Luxor and transfer to the Sonesta St. George Hotel. In the afternoon visit the Temple of Karnak and the XVIIIth Dynasty Luxor Temple.

Day 5

Embark on the Oberoi Shehrayar for lunch (The Oberoi Shehrayar is expected to be in dry dock from the end of May to approximately the end of September. Dates are yet to be confirmed. Departures during this period will operate on the sister boat, the Oberoi Shehrazad). In the afternoon cross the Nile to Western Thebes to explore the Valley of the Kings. Also visit the Valley of the Queens, and the imposing temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari. Overnight in Luxor.

Sail through the Esna Lock to Edfu, where you will moor overnight.

Day 7

Visit the Temple of Horus at Edfu. Continue sailing to Kom Ombo to see the Ptolemaic temple dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek and the falcon-headed Haroeris, god of the morning sun. In the late afternoon arrive in Aswan.

Day 8

Disembark after breakfast and visit the Aswan High Dam and the ancient Granite Quarries. Transfer to the Movenpick Hotel on Elephantine Island.

Day 9

At leisure in Aswan. An optional excursion by air can be arranged to visit the temples of Abu Simbel. You may also wish to visit the wonderful Temple of Philae, sail to Kitchener Island to view the Botanical Garden, or simply relax by the hotel’s large swimming pool.

Fly to Cairo to connect with your EgyptAir flight to London Heathrow, where you arrive in the late afternoon.
