Afternoon non-stop flight by EgyptAir from London Heathrow to Cairo (2187 miles or 3159KM/4 hours 50 minutes). Accommodation at the historic Mena House Oberoi Hotel (Garden Wing) close to the Pyramids of Giza.

At leisure in Cairo.

Day 4
Fly to Luxor (317 miles or 510 KM/1 hour 5 minutes) and embark on the Oberoi Philae for lunch. Overnight in Luxor.

Day 5
Morning visit by road (due to the low water level) to the Temple of Hathor at Denderah (116 B.C.). This marvellous site is rarely included in cruise itineraries these days, but is remarkably intact and famous for its unique astronomical ceiling. Drive back to Luxor in the afternoon.

Day 6
Morning free. In the afternoon visit the awe-inspiring temple complex of Amon-Ra at Karnak, with its vast Hypostyle Hall of 137 columns, and the imposing XVIIIth Dynasty Luxor Temple.

Day 7
Visit the tombs in the Valley of the Kings. Continue to the Valley of the Queens, the Temple of Medinet Habu and the Colossi of Memnon. In the afternoon sail to Esna.

Day 8
Sail to Edfu to see the Ptolemaic Temple of Horus (237 BC). Proceed to Kom Ombo, where you will visit the Ptolemaic temple.

Day 9
In the morning sail to Aswan. The highlight of this afternoon’s sightseeing is the Temple of Isis at Philae.

Day 10
Disembark after breakfast. There is the option of visiting the temples of Abu Simbel by air before taking the flight back to Cairo (435 miles or 700KM/1½ hours) for overnight at the Movenpick Heliopolis Hotel at Cairo Airport.
